Where to find photos from Moscow nightclubs

Where to find photos from Moscow nightclubs (real photos inside!)

Last weekend was a long one in Moscow because of a national holiday and I hope all of you that are in Moscow made good use of it and partied hard.

Believe it or not but I was laying low this weekend to get some work done for the site, the results of which you will see very soon.

But those of you that hit the clubs all three nights straight (yea, heard of plenty of people who did that) probably got their picture taken at some point.

Now usually those photographer guys are nice enough to take a picture of you when you're not absolutely smashed. But chances are that you probably still had a drink or three too much at some point throughout the evening.

Often enough I woke up the next day and vaguely remembered someone taking a picture of me. So I'd go on a frantic search of it as part of my sobering-up process. Ideally you're gonna get a good one for Instagram and in the worst case, you'll know where to hide that dirt from whoever is not supposed to see it.

To make your life a bit easier, I put together a list of all sites that take photos in Moscow nightlife. On these sites you'll also get a good impression of the crowds you can expect in different nightclubs.

Summary: Nightout has mostly photos from lounges like Chaihona. The photos are medium quality and not special or artistic in any way.

Summary: Vklybe is one of the biggest Russian-speaking nightlife portals. It often publishes photos from Icon and Duran Bar but I've also seen Valenok, Gazgolder and other clubs on there. The photos are well-taken and it's plain obvious that they have some talented photographers working for them. You have the option to download HQ versions of them, which is great. Vklybe also publishes pictures from other events like fashion shows and the sorts.

Summary: Vbare publishes photos from a few not terribly popular places like 1929 Bar, Lookin Rooms and others. The photos are decent but unspectacular. At least you get an option to download a higher quality version of the photo you'd like.

Summary: Nightparty has a good event calendar but a rather poor photo section. They inconsistently publish from various clubs. Some clubs are more mainstream like Icon, while other clubs like Squat 3/4 or Aglomerat are more underground. Every once in a while there's also pics from random events. The pictures itself are quite random as well and are lacking an option to download a HQ version.

Summary: Night2day has very well-taken photos from nightclubs like Icon and Miks, as well as a couple of "upbeat" restaurants. Downsides are the lack of a HQ version and the fact that they're not at more clubs because the pictures itself are pretty good.

Summary: Partytonight publishes regularly photos from the clubs Miks and AKT, as well as sometimes from Tipsy. Photos are nothing spectacular, mostly regular shots of the guests. Unfortunately also in pretty poor resolution.

Summary: Geometria is very similar to Vklybe in the way that it's also a major Russian-speaking nightlife and event portal. It has a lot of photos from Icon, Lookin Rooms and Chesterfield with some lesser-known bars and events sprinkled in between. The photos are good and you can get them in HQ too.

That's all of the major sites I know of. You probably noticed that a lot of the same Moscow clubs come up again and again. Some places, like Gipsy, simply do not hire any nightlife photographers. For others I'll tell you a little hack, so you don't have to raid half a dozen different sites to find your club photo.

How to find Moscow nightclub photos - the lazy man's way

If you don't know on what site to look for your photo, because you didn't ask or didn't get a card, this is what you should do:

Simply google for "moscow + "name of the club/bar you've been to" +Фотоотчет".

You can also go for "fotootchet" on that last word, the Russian version of Google will figure it out. You'll have to navigate a bit of Russian but the dates should make it obvious enough if there's photos or not. Sometimes you might have to wait a couple of days because they aren't all that quick to put them up.

You can also try Yandex.ru, if you have no success on Google. It's a popular search engine in Russia and sometimes yields better results.
