Review of: Papas Place Moscow

Type of venue: American-style expat bar

Very relaxed.

Daily drinks or food specials.

Relaxed in the bar but busy on the dancefloor.

That's good

  • Every day a different deal for drinks or food
  • Sports bar & nightclub in one
  • Lots of non-Russian speaking guests

That needs improvement

  • Drinks are not that great
  • Not the most sophisticated place
  • Quite big so can feel a bit empty sometimes

Summary: Papas Place is a good choice if you want to watch a match, grab food or or are looking for international people. It's run by expats and has a very open and non-pretentious atmosphere. If you don't know where to go during the week, Papas is always worth a try. Don't expect anything too sophisticated in terms of guests, food or atmosphere though, it's a very basic venue.

Where is Papas Place Moscow?

What kind of music do they play in Papas Place?

Standard commercial club music, with some other stuff mixed in between. Very similar to what you'll hear at Crazy Daisy or Coyote Ugly

What kind of people go to Papas Place and how is the vibe?

Papas Place is owned by a, in Moscow rather well-known, expat and as such a favourite hangout of Moscow's expat community. The crowd is accordingly much more mixed than in your stereotypical Moscow club or bar. You get everything from expats over tourists and students to regular folk who just come to eat and kick it with a beer. Also age-wise you get everything across the board, so it isn't a place that is visited by only one type or age of people.

The vibe is neither "clubby" nor is it a real bar vibe. Papas is a fairly big venue, which means you can make your own vibe:

Wanna sit in the corner with the guys and watch the match? No problem, there's TV's all over the place and tons of seating opportunities.

Or you prefer to be at the bar and talk to people? You can do that too, the bar is long and you won't have trouble finding a spot to post up.

You came to dance and really go wild? They have a proper dancefloor downstairs that almost always gathers some people.

Papas wants to be a place that everyone can come to and as such, they do succeed in doing that. It is not outstanding in any one way but does a lot of things decently well. Whether you prefer the more relaxed but busy vibe of the big upstairs bar, or the clubbier atmosphere on the dancefloor, Papas can make both work.

When should I go to Papas Place?

For hanging out and grabbing a beer or something to eat you can come anytime, if you want to party then Fridays and Saturdays are peak days like at most other venues. Papas is open 7 days a week, so it's also worth a try if you are looking for some fun on a weekday.

What is the dress code in this club?

Elegance level: low

No dress code per se, Papas is run by expats and as such has a pretty lenient and relaxed door policy.

What are the prices in this club?

Price level: average

Cocktails are not that expensive, around 500 Rubles a piece. They are not among the best in Moscow but the days with drinks deals can make up for that. No minimum spend for a table.

How is the energy in this club?

Energy level: decent

The upstairs part is more relaxed but not quiet, the dancefloor can get busy and rocking on good days.

So do you have any insider tips or recommendations for Papas Place?

  • Thursday is ladies night and girls drink for free.
  • Drinks deals on Monday evenings and any day from 12pm to 9pm.
  • 1+1 pizzas on Sundays

Why you should come to Papas Place Moscow

If you want cheap drinks during the day or the early evening, Papas has hands down the best offers in town. Otherwise come here if you prefer a mixed crowd and a less Russian and more international vibe.
