Review of: Magadan Restaurant Club Moscow

Type of venue: Restaurant/Bar/Club

Elegance

Fairly elegant.

Prices

Standard prices for this type of venue.

Energy

Decent energy.

That's good

  • Easy to get in
  • Stylish
  • New = popular

That needs improvement

  • Way too many tables around the bar area.
  • Music not really changing it up a lot

Summary: The Magadan Restaurant Club Moscow is the newest Novikov restaurant that doubles as a nightclub. If you are looking for a place to start the night, don't mind Russian pop and like elegant style then this is for you. Avoid if you're more into electronic music and visit their sister restaurant Valenok instead.

Where is the Magadan Restaurant Club Moscow?

What kind of music do they play in the Magadan Restaurant Club Moscow?

Like in some other Novikov restaurants you have a concert till about 1130pm and then the music starts. Mostly domestic commercial music.

What kind of people go to the Magadan Restaurant Club Moscow and how is the vibe?

Magadan is the new Novikov restaurant/bar/club hybrid. It pretty much follows the tradition of Chips Moscow and Valenok, which are also both Novikov restaurants. Magadan is located right by Miks and Akt, which means you can party pretty much 12 hours straight without having to move locations at all.

The restaurant has a fish theme although I wouldn't know how the food is since I don't go there to eat, ha. The layout is very similar to what you find at Valenok and Chips. Lots of tables, a small bar and very limited space for dancing. I'd say out of the three it has the worst layout if you don't want to sit (and even if you do). The bar is bigger than in Valenok but uncomfortable to stand at. The dancefloor on the other hand is too small and not really seperated from the tables.

The crowd is pretty much what you'll find at Valenok. Lots of girls in their mid to end-twenties, a slightly posher crowd but not as pronounced as in Duran or Siberia for example. Although it's fairly lively, the layout lends itself more to being a preparty place. You can easily hop over to the clubs next door at 2am. If you like their music, that is.

When should I go to the Magadan Restaurant Club Moscow?

After 1130pm if you want to pass on the live music part. I never stayed long but I imagine that it starts to get significantly emptier after 230am. As usual, only Fridays and Saturdays for parties.

What's the dress code in this club?

Elegance level: high

Pretty much the same like all the Novikov venues. Face control is rather lax though.

What are the prices like in this club?

Price level: standard

Again, for a preparty spot the prices are ok. Drinks are around the 600RUB mark.

How is the energy in this club?

Energy level: decent

Music is more domestic pop than at Valenok for example but the crowd self-selects accordingly. Those who are there seem to like it.

So do you have any insider tips or recommendations for the Magadan Restaurant Club Moscow?

  • Unless you're into Russian pop concerts you should really avoid coming too early.
  • Getting there by cab is kind of inconvenient because the venue is sort of tucked away. You definitely want to consider staying in the area if you're already there.

Why you should come to the Magadan Restaurant Club Moscow

If you want to see the newest "in" restaurant club in Moscow then come here. Make sure you're ok with Russian music and you'll have a good time.
