One of the best clubs for party.
That needs improvement
Summary: Icon is one of the most popular and best-known clubs in town. If you like to party in big megaclubs and want a taste of the typical Moscow nightlife, this will be a perfect fit. You shouldn't be cheap or annoyed by lots of people if you plan to visit.
Where is the Icon club Moscow?
What kind of music do they play in Icon?
In the first area, expect a mixture of mainstream top 40 music and Russian pop songs. In the second, slightly bigger area you get live performances with Russian pop music until about 2am. After that it’s mostly some sort of electronic music.
What kind of people go to Icon and how is the vibe?
Like on most of the Krasny Oktjabr area, Icon’s crowd is skewed towards younger people. Girls are usually on the younger side (18-25). For the better part, you can expect dolled-up students and model-looking types of girls. Guys tend to be more mixed. There’s a fair amount of younger Russians but you also get some middle-aged men and foreign tourists trying their luck. The Icon club Moscow used to be called Ray( in Russian: Клуб Рай) before getting rebranded and still pulls from its past reputation with good visibility online and in tourist guides.
Table culture is far more noticeable in Icon, as the club features lots of tables across three floors. It’s actually one of the few Moscow clubs, where getting a table will separate you from the mere guests. A lot of people prefer to watch the performances around midnight and the place gets really hot only after that.
The vibe depends on the type of night. Usually, the better and more famous the artist who’s performing, the more fired up you can expect people to be. The style of the club really fits the taste of younger upper-class Russians, though that will not be for everyone. They do put a lot of effort into their performances with very elaborate dance and smoke shows. Icon is also one of the clubs that still has go-go dancers.
When should I go to Icon?
Like most other places Icon only works Fridays and Saturdays. Unlike a lot of other spots, it’s a pure nightclub and not a restaurant-turned-club. The peak of the party is between 2am and 3am, but it stays busy past 4am, especially in the first area.
