Review of: Duran Bar Moscow
Type of venue: High-end club/bar
And even more expensive.
Pretty packed but mostly at tables.
That needs improvement
Summary: Duran Bar is one of the most popular and one of the best top tier clubs in Moscow. It combines a terrace, a bar and a little club all at once. However, don't make the effort to come after 3am because people are more leaving than going at this point.
Where is the Duran Bar Moscow?
What kind of music do they play in Duran?
The music in Duran Bar is probably one of the best as far as the top tier Moscow clubs are concerned. DJs are pretty solid and play deep house or some variety thereof. The club also hires sometimes foreign DJ’s. Similar to a lot of other clubs, more or less famous Russian artists perform from time to time for an hour after midnight.
What kind of people go to Duran and how is the vibe?
The rich, the beautiful and those who want to meet the former two.
Depending on your perspective, the Duran Bar attracts a lot of Moscow’s best or worst people. Make no mistake, Moscow’s rich and famous love to party and when they do, they usually party until the sun comes up and beyond that. Especially in summer the place picks up in pace when the terrace is open air, the nights short and you enjoy the early sunrise in the capital.
Duran’s strength is that it combines three different vibes in one place. Sit back and enjoy the charm of the old brick building at one of the numerous tables in the spacious entry. Get a drink and enjoy the music on the, somewhat small, dance floor inside the bar. If you want to mingle, your best bet is to hit the smoking patio on the terrace outside, which is always quite busy and has a little separated VIP area too. Bonus points for being located above ground level, so you get a nice view.
Duran Bar is a classic Moscow restaurant/bar/club hybrid. There are plenty of tables occupied by people who have no problem dropping serious money on them. So you get the classic Moscow high-end club crowd of older, well-off men coupled with younger women. On average, the crowd is a tad older than in the comparable .
When should I go to Duran?
Duran is a regular restaurant/bar Sunday through Wednesday but turns into a club from Thursday to Saturday. There’s a fairly constant stream of people, so you can’t really go wrong with either time, but after 4am you are best advised to head to one of the after party places. Since it is fairly spacious it rarely gets extremely busy in winter and there won’t be lines at the door.
