Review of: Buddha Bar Moscow

Type of venue: Asian-themed restaurant/bar/club

Elegant spot.

Surprisingly unexpensive.

Too slow for actual clubbing.

That's good

  • Very classy style
  • Considering that, not too expensive

That needs improvement

  • Low energy
  • Not as popular as similar places

Summary: The Buddha Bar Moscow is good if you're a bit older and not into the pumping nightclubs or even the clubby restaurants that Moscow has on offer. It's a nightclub in itself but quieter than similar spots. If you like more action and younger people, this won't be for you.

Where is the Buddha Bar Moscow?

What kind of music do they play in the Buddha Bar Moscow?

House-ish music, sometimes with remixed Russian songs.

What kind of people go to the Buddha Bar Moscow and how is the vibe?

The Buddha Bar Moscow follows the popular Moscow-style principle of having a restaurant layout with a nightclub atmosphere.

The interior has the same style like all other bars of this worldwide franchise: very classy with an Asian touch. Unfortunately the interior layout in the Buddha Bar isn't ideal. At the bar you're a bit cut off from th DJ and the small dancefloor by the stairs that lead up to the second floor.

Until 1am you'll always get some sort of show or dance performance by the go-go girls that are dancing in Buddha and after that the actual party starts. Generally the party there is somewhat slower than at Valenok for example, which is right across the road (in Moscow that means a good 500 meters away). The dancfloor often fills up but then the DJ doesn't catch the right vibe and it empties again.

The crowd is also slightly older than at Valenok. Mostly people are over 25 but I've seen significantly older folk as well.

Overall, the whole setup is good for a preparty, at least in theory. In practice it doesn't really get going before 1am because of the show, which kind of defeats the purpose of coming there for a preparty while it is a bit slow for actual clubbing.

When should I go to the Buddha Bar Moscow?

If you want to come for partying, don't bother showing up before 1am. If you want to just have a drink and chill, you can come any tie after 10pm.

What's the dress code in this club?

Elegance level: high

I don't think they actually refuse people entrance here but you should be dressed well.

What are the prices like in this club?

Price level: standard

Surprisingly cheap for the nice interior, cocktails come at about 600 Rubles.

How is the energy in this club?

Energy level: low

Much better to come here and sit at a table with your pack instead of coming for clubbing.

So do you have any insider tips or recommendations for the Buddha Bar Moscow?

  • No particular recommendations but I think there is a nice terrace in summer as well.

Why you should come to the Buddha Bar Moscow
