Review of: Baga Bar Moscow

Type of venue: Bar/nightclub with live music

Very casual.

No way of spending lots on cocktails.

Solid but unspectacular.

That's good

  • Right next to the metro in an area that's short on clubs
  • Decent interior
  • Open 24/7

That needs improvement

  • No license to serve real booze
  • Energy is not really off the charts

Summary: The Baga Bar is good if you are located around that area and are looking for a place to sit down and shoot the shit over a few beers. Alternatively, it's also a great last resort since it works 24/7. For a poppin' nightlife spot, I would recommend other venues.

Where is the Baga Bar Moscow?

What kind of music do they play in the Baga Bar Moscow?

Until around 1am there's always a concert with rock type of music. After that the normal commercial mix of local and international songs.

What kind of people go to the Baga Bar Moscow and how is the vibe?

The Baga Bar Moscow is located around Novokznetskaya station, which is a popular area for smaller cafes and restaurants but doesn't have a lot of clubs and bars. You can't miss the bar, it's right next to the metro and has massive decoration outside, especially in winter.

The interior will remind you, if you've been, of Jagger and Mummiy Troll Bar. The venue really is 80% bar/restaurant and only 20% a club. It's fairly basic though and no comparison to these fancier spots with a similar layout like Valenok and Buddha Bar

Before 1am you get live music in the Baga Bar Moscow. I haven't been often there but it's always been the rock-ish type. After that the "club" part of the night starts.

The crowd in the Baga Bar Moscow leans, from what I've seen, a bit towards the latter end of their 20s and older. If you're looking for a place with lots of young people, this is probably not the right one to start.

Consequently the energy isn't as high as in the mentioned Jagger or even Mummiy Troll Bar. The fact that they seemingly lost their license for hard alcohol and can only serve beer doesn't help at all.

When should I go to the Baga Bar Moscow?

After 1am if you want to pass on the live music part. The bar itself has a decent layout so you can always swing by to sit down. It's open 24/7 as well.

What's the dress code in this club?

Elegance level: low

No real issues at the door here.

What are the prices like in this club?

Price level: average

Considering the fact you will only drink beer, this should save you some money already. Beers are not that cheap though, around 400 Rubles for 0,5l.

How is the energy in this club?

Energy level: average

The energy is pretty mediocre in the Baga Bar and the fact that you can't drink hard alcohol probably doesn't help.

So do you have any insider tips or recommendations for the Baga Bar Moscow?

  • Last time I checked they served no hard alcohol! (for me that's an automatic pass then, ha)
